Uffizi Gallery
The Uffizi Gallery was constructed between 1560 and 1580 by Giorgio Vasari following the orders of Cosimo I de’ Medici, first Gran Duque of Tuscany. Originally were designed as offices for magistrates, judges, technicians, and merchants of Florence. In order to build the Uffizi Gallery in a U shape many buildings were demolished like San Pier Scheraggio’s church. This is an old Romanesque and important church from the XI century whose arcs and columns can be seen from Via della Ninna in front of the Palazzo Vecchio.
When Vasari died in 1574, this project which construction has been prolonged for many years; has not been completed and two others architects Bernardo Buontalenti and Alfonso Parigi il Vecchio were the ones in charge to finish the work.
The top floor was turned into a private gallery for the amusement of the ruling family of Florence, friends and guests. Here in this gallery were displayed paintings, statues, jewelry, scientific instruments and weapons transforming it into a very interesting and precious collection in the world.
The gallery became a museum and opened its doors officially in 1769.
Nowadays with 50 rooms, houses paintings ranging from the 13th century to the 18th century. The highlights are the famous “Madonna di Ognissanti” by Giotto, the “Battle of San Romano” by Paolo Uccello, the double portrait by Piero della Francesca, “Federico da Montefeltro”, the “Birth of Venus” by Botticelli; in addition to three works by Leonardo, one by Michelangelo, a few by Raffaello and many by Tiziano. All paintings inside the Uffizi Gallery have been displayed chronologically, so it is possible to fully appreciate all the innovations in art throughout the centuries.
Today the Uffizi Gallery is one of the most admired and visited museums in the world.

Situated in the heart of Tuscany, Il Borro is a century-old hamlet surrounded by 1.100 hectares of organic land. San Danto
Fattoria San Donato is a small medieval village, found amongst the hills of San Gimignano in the Tuscan countryside. It originates on the pilgrim route La Via Francigena, around a romanesque church. We have tried our best to maintain the original architectural structures, while remoderning the Agriturismo to give our guest a wonderful and comfortable experience, the villa with the access to the secular garden, the tower, the farmer’s houses now turned into comfortable apartments and the Taverna now available for our guests.
San Donato has been a place of vineyards and olive garden for over 2500 years. As far back as Etruscans, their population loved and produced wine, until today, these land has brought on the tradition, a millenary host of vineyards. It is the land itself and the microclimate that deserve the merit. The land is, in fact, composed Pliocene sands, fossil stones and shells that give the vine precious minerals, excellent drainage and all the right nutrients.
Museo Salvatore Ferragamo
The Ferragamo family founded the museum in May 1995 to acquaint an international audience with the artistic qualities of Salvatore Ferragamo and the role he played in the history of footwear and international fashion.
The idea for the museum initially came about when an exhibition was organised at Palazzo Strozzi on the history of Salvatore Ferragamo. The exhibition went on tour and was hosted by some of the world’s most prestigious museums, such as the Victoria and Albert in London, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Sogetsu Kai Foundation in Tokyo, and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Mexico. The temporary exhibition gradually became permanent.
In recognition of the museum’s cultural importance and that of its many initiatives over the years, in 1999, Salvatore Ferragamo received the Guggenheim Impresa e Cultura Award, given annually to companies that best invest in culture to constructive ends.

Since I was little, when I couldn’t run around the soccer fields with my friends, I always loved cooking with my mom and grandmother. Those were the first emotions that carried me into the enchanted world of taste, smells and memory.
It has been and it is an overwhelming experience; the products, the wines that we carefully select from small local producers, you can immediately feel that they are good for your inner self; my floor and kitchen brigade, with all of their passion respect and value them. Our dishes can often tell you about our life experiences, of art exhibition visits, visions of beauty in our beautiful Florence, which surrounds and comforts us like a big mother. After 5 years of activity, in 2010, we received the first Michelin star, you can’t imagine how exciting it was, and even today, each time it is renewed, it gives us great satisfaction.
